Whether you are installing a single charge point, or a multi-site network, there are a few things you need to take into account when choosing the best commercial EV charging stations.
First of all you need to work out which charger type(s) you need. In general if you are providing workplace charging, you are best looking at a 3 phase 16A or 32A universal Type 2 socket, giving power of 11kW or 22kW. If you only have a single phase connection at the charging site, you’ll be restricted to providing power of 3.6kW or 7.2kW.

What is the OZEV Commercial Grant?
If you’re looking to buy a low emission vehicle and charge point for home or work use, the “OZEV Grant” is a government grant which entitles you to money off specific low emission vehicles AND money off electric charger installation. Your choice of car and charger must be on the OZEV approved list but if they are then you’ll be entitled to up to £3,000 off the RRP of the car and up to £350 towards the installation of your charger.
You don’t need to do anything to claim these other than pick an approved vehicle and an approved charger installation. The dealership and Current UK EV Charge Points will do the rest.

Is your business eligible for the OZEV workplace charging scheme?
- The grant can be accessed by any business, public authority or charity
- Your business needs to have off-street parking
- You’ll need to present a business need for EV charge points
- You’ll need to have your installation carried out by an OLEV approved installer
- You’ll receive up to £350 per socket – for 40 sockets in total
